Augment Therapy
Augmented Reality exercise program to monitor and motivate children in all settings
Through our focus of enhancing children’s quality of life, we’ve identified Augment Therapy as an indispensable program for hospitalized children.
When a child is sick, being active is often the last thing they want to do. Yet, physical therapy is often necessary, and being active can be beneficial to both the body and mind when ill.
That is why the CarsonStrong Foundation is committing $147,000 in funding to University Hospital’s Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital to bring Augment Therapy to in-patient pediatric patients. Kids love this engaging and exciting technology, as it gamifies physical therapy activities, virtually immersing the child in their own world of play.
Our commitment to helping kids complete their physical therapy and stay active during hospital stays is revolutionary in the hospital community. Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital in Cleveland is the first hospital to bring this technology to an in-patient pediatric setting.
Learn How Augment Therapy Is Helping
Experiencing Carson’s nearly 10-year battle with childhood cancer, we understand why children who are undergoing cancer treatment – and treatment for other illnesses – may not want to be active. We also know that being mobile is beneficial for both body and mind when you are ill.
Paying It Foward
Debbie and John Higgins started the CarsonStrong Foundation in 2017, one year after losing their son, Carson, to cancer. Carson was first diagnosed with Stage 4 neuroblastoma at the age of three. After taking part in an experimental protocol at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Carson miraculously exhibited no signs of cancer. In 2015, the cancer returned. He passed away in 2016 at the age of 12.
