Debbie’s commitment to her family, including her husband John and five sons, servers as her inspiration for everything she does in life. Although her son Carson lost his ten-year battle with childhood cancer in 2016, Debbie remains an active, passionate volunteer with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Kids4Kids, Rachel’s Challenge, the Revere PTA and Make-A-Wish.
Debbie has been a Board member of the Family Advisory Council at St Jude Children’s Research Hospital since 2009. Debbie was Chair and Vice-Chair for four years, and she continues to volunteer and hold leadership roles on numerous Committees. Additionally, she is a frequent speaker at, and takes part in many fundraisers for the St Jude, including: the St. Jude Dream Home, St. Jude Give Thanks Walk and St. Jude Marathon–along with running the St Jude Half Marathon last year in Carson’s memory.
Recipient of the Make-A-Wish W.I.S.H.- Women Inspiring Strength & Hope Award in 2017, and she held fundraisers to sponsor a child’s wish. Debbie has spent more than 20 years volunteering within school systems and has been the recipient of numerous awards, including the Helping Hands and Friends of Children Awards. She is President and Founder of Kids4Kids, a unique non-profit that provides students with opportunities to give back to others. She has engaged local students in monthly activities to connect them with the power of service and philanthropy since 2013.
Debbie is the Co-Founder of the first Annual Carson Higgins Memorial Golf Outing and Memorial Dinner, held in September 2017.
Debbie earned her AAS degree from the State University of New York at Cobleskill. She began her professional career managing numerous restaurants, before she was blessed with children and able to have her dream job–stay at home mom!
Debbie is inspired by her son Carson, who lived his life through example, despite his challenges, and was an inspiration for all of us to live out our purpose in life—always mindful to be kind and loving, regardless of circumstances. For that reason, Debbie loves to volunteer and make a change in peoples lives, while motivating others to do the same.
