Every morning I get up and the first thing I do is open my Timehop app on my phone. I am on day 369, which means I took pictures every day for over a year. Most days I love seeing the pictures from last year and previous years. This morning when I opened the app, it was a lot of emotion. The first thing that came up was John and the boys carrying Carson’s casket out to the hearse, and I realized it was the day we had Carson’s calling hours. It quickly brought tears to my eyes, reminding me that a year ago people were viewing my son in a casket and expressing their love for Carson and our family.

I quickly swiped past those difficult pictures until I got to the pictures from 2 years ago. It was the first day of school for Carson and Derek. How can things change so quickly? No parent should have to bury their child! I wish I could be spending hundreds of dollars on school supplies and have the stress of get two kids ready for Middle School this week. I wish I could see how much bigger the boys are this year compared to previous school years.

I don’t want any other parent to feel the pain of burying your child, therefore we continue to raise money and awareness for St Jude Hospital. Saving future children’s lives is why we decided to put on the Carson Higgins Memorial Golf Outing and dinner fundraiser.

The Golf event will be held at Rosemont Country Club on September 11, 2017. The format will be a scramble with a shotgun start at 11:00 AM. Registration will begin at 9 AM, with access to a continental breakfast and the driving range. There will be a box lunch, drinks and dinner/celebration following golf about 5 PM.

Please consider golfing, donating prizes, sponsoring holes or volunteering. The cost to golf is $125 per person or $500 per foursome. There is an opportunity to buy a “Super Ticket” with your golf registration. This ticket will gain you access to all the additional giving opportunities throughout the day: Skins game, Putting Contest, Mulligans, entry into hole-in-one contest for a free car,10 tickets to the Chinese Raffle and 10 tickets to the 50-50 Raffle. The cost for this ticket is $100.

Additionally, we will be holding an incredibly fun dinner party the night before the golf outing on Sunday, September 10th! Ken Stewart is opening his restaurant, Tre Belle for us. The restaurant is located at 1911 North Cleveland Massillon Road, Akron, OH 44333. The fabulous Twin B-Project lead by Chris Reid, who is an amazing singer and guitarist will be playing live music during the dinner event. Classic Valet has donated their time to Valet at the dinner.

John will be behind the bar and I will be cocktail waitressing! The food is delicious, and you will be able to order off their fabulous small plate menu, and the bar will be open, serving tasty beverages! Ken is generously donating a portion of the revenues that night, as well as the tips, to The Carson Higgins Memorial golf outing! So, make it a 2-day party, Sunday night from 5-9PM at Tre Belle, Monday golfing and dinner, all to support a great cause and honor the memory of Carson Higgins.
