The 5th Annual Carson Higgins Memorial Golf Outing, presented by Courier Express One and the Higgins Family, raised more than $140,000 for the Carson Higgins Memorial Foundation, a nonprofit organization based in Stow, Ohio, with a mission of enhancing the lives of children facing cancer and other life challenges by funding therapeutic, medical and educational opportunities.
One of the programs that will be supported through the golf outing proceeds is Augment Therapy at UH Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital in Cleveland. The technology encourages hospitalized children to be more active through an immersive, augmented reality experience that makes movement and physical therapy activities more fun. The Carson Higgins Memorial Foundation (CHMF) has committed $147,000 to provide 25 Augment Therapy units at UH Rainbow Babies, making Rainbow Babies the first hospital in the world to implement this technology in an inpatient pediatric setting. The program is expected to be fully operational at Rainbow Babies by early November.
Forty teams participated in the event, held September 27 at Silver Lake Country Club. The Northwestern Mutual Team came in first place overall with a score of 54. Team 20 Foot Gimmies won the CARSONBALL game by getting the closest toss to the target. Pat Olsen took home the longest drive award, and closest to the pin honors went to Sal Jacobozzi.

CHMF is a Stow, Ohio-based 501(c)(3) organization. Since 2017, CHMF has donated more than $340,000 to enhance the quality of life for children and families facing cancer and other life challenges by funding therapeutic, medical, and educational opportunities. The programs the Foundation supports are inspired by the interests and passions of the late Carson Gene Higgins, courageously faced neuroblastoma, a pediatric cancer that affects the body’s nervous system. Passing in 2016 at the age of 12, Carson’s examples of kindness and generosity encourage us to live and love richly, to take each day as a gift, and to give generously. With your help, we can bring hope to other families facing difficult and sometimes devastating life challenges.
